SCHOLARSHIPS & GRANTS

College is expensive. However, scholarships are out there! There's millions of dollars in scholarships and grants that has your name on it. All you have to do is apply! Here are some tips that can help you lessen the cost for paying for your education:

  • Have you looked into/signed up for Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? If not, sign up now!!!

  • Apply for as many as possible!
  • Create a table of scholarships you need to apply for and their due dates. Stay organized on the hunt for getting free money!
  • Look at the eligibility requirements. Don’t waste your time applying for a scholarship you’re not eligible for.
  • What is the application requiring you to give them? Letters of Recommendation? Essays? Video responses?
  • Do NOT wait until the last minute to complete your app. It will not be a fun time completing the app.
  • Believe in yourself. It’s OK if you don’t get every scholarship offered! Just keep trying and keep applying to more scholarships.
  • “No-essay” scholarships give you little to no chances of winning because hundreds of thousands of students will be applying for the same thing...Consider applying to local scholarships to increase your chances of receiving a scholarship!
  • ​Be thoughtful when writing your essay responses. Make sure you answer the questions as honestly as possible! Scholarship readers want to get to know you, and they want to be convinced that you should be the recipient of their scholarship.
